GPS Module, Power and Video Cable Compatibility Table

Dear visitor,
We sometimes get cable and accessories compatibility questions from potential buyers or BlackVue users planning to buy a new model. 

“Can I reuse this cable?”

With a dashcam already installed in your vehicle–including power and video cables–it makes sense to ask yourself whether the cables must be reinstalled or you can reuse them.

Here is a table that should help you figure this out.

Reading the table

Just look at the dashcam model and then its accessory type. 
For example, the DR650S-2CH uses the same power cable as the DR490-2CH, but they both use different video cables.

Power cables

Those are the same for the most part. The only models that use different power cables are the LCD dashcam models, including the recent DR490L-2CH and the older DR750LW-2CH. This is because those two models feature native Parking Mode (the DR490L-2CH must be hardwired directly to the vehicle to use Parking Mode), so the cables have constant power and switched power connections (in order to be able to detect whether the vehicle’s ignition is turned on and off). Updated on July 26, 2017.

Video cables

So far all dual-channel BlackVue dashcams used a coaxial video cable. The DR490L-2CH and DR490-2CH introduced a new video cable, which connectors both resemble a 3.5mm headphone jack.

External GPS module

All models use the G-1E model, except the DR490L-2CH. 
You can spot the difference by looking at the certification sticker: the G-1E (for DR490/470/450/430) is black, with white lettering. The G-1AE (for DR490L-2CH) is white, with black lettering.

Trivia: if you wonder why the DR490L-2CH uses a different GPS module, here is the reason: the DR490L-2CH is the international version of the DR5500L-2CH (a Korea-only model), which features compatibility with a speed camera alert service for Korea. The DR5500L-2CH uses a specific GPS module to support that function. The hardware of the DR490L-2CH being similar to its Korean counterpart, it also uses that specific GPS module.
